It was kinda cool cause they were married a year ago this november so both their wedding and first baby shower were fall themed (I love continuity-plus it helps that it's my fav season of all time). So let's start with the invites or should I say evites- honestly, who PAYS for physical invitations anymore?? (other than weddings). So I found some ones online that were super cute but they were physical invites which I didn't want. I LOVE evites-love that they can store your RSVP list and it's instant/don't have to worry about it getting lost in the mail etc. Thanks to my techy hubby through the wonders of google clipart and photoshop we put together this adorable evite that we emailed out:
When it came to the shower I got most of my ideas off of pinterest, of course. It was an adorable baby girl-pumpkin themed shower that I liberally stole from. My favorite was the banner-which I just bought on Etsy form the actual shower-thrower herself since it was only 5 bucks and now I always have that file should I need to throw another fall themed girl shower :)
above you can see some pumpkins by the fireplace that Sarah's sister painted white and pink polka-dots/chevron etc. so cute!
As far as the refreshments we did lots of classic fall stuff: apple cider, spice cake cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting, kettle corn, candy corn/chex mix, some pumpkin pie cookies (basically pumpkin pie filling in between two pumpkin shaped pieces of pie dough with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled ontop- really good.)
we also had some pink and white things to tie in the banner and pumpkins- white choc-covered pretzels, the frosted circus cookies, and strawberries with a pink fruit dip. I wish I had better pics of the refreshment table but I was so frazzled running around and trying to let people in to the shower that I didn't have much time to photograph everything nicely.
We had lots of family and friends there. We had some siblings/aunts/cousins from both sides as well as some friends from work. For games we did some classic name guessing games:
a match-making Jane Austin heroine: Emma etc. We also did the guess what the poopy diaper is (what candy bar it was etc) and taste-testing/guessing baby food flavors, and there were paper bags that had baby items that you could only guess by feel.
All and all it was a fun time and Sarah and Eric got some great presents. It worked out perfectly because Eric was watching the BYU game in the back with some of our uncles and when it was time to open presents it was half-time. Eric oohed and ahhed appropriately, all the while thinking-what the heck?- I'm sure :)
sorry for the crazy eyes Lindsey but it was a cute one of Mindy!
My cousin Amanda taste-testing baby food:
that's right Nancy, don't be shy:
They got lots of cute pink and purple clothes much to Sarah's delight:
Nice haul guys!
All and all it was fun, but I'm happy to have my month finally winding down to normal-it was a busy first half of the month/and not just cause of this.
