the duck pond

I'm sitting on the couch, Jake's napping, banana bread is baking, and I'm discovering a new band, oh and it's Sunday.  Life is good.  The group is Iko.  My fav thus far is heart of stone but I like all of them-nice melodic/chill vibe.  I feel like time is racing by sluggishly lately.  Code has been getting ready to go deliver the product he's been building for his new company to some clients in California.  Needless to say he's been VERY busy trying to get it all done on time.  I've kind of forgotten what it's like for him to come home and be able to be home and not work in the evenings, so I'm very excited for this first hurtle to be over with. We sure are earning our vacation this next weekend!  Georgia here we come!

Between the work though we've still managed to have some quality family time.  Yesterday we went to the duck pond south of campus cause Jake's never really been to a duck pond since he's been old enough to know what the heck is going on.  They have totally changed it!  There's a nice boardwalk around the pond and railings etc.  pretty shnazzy.  Jake LOVED the ducks and couldn't understand why they didn't want to play with him and would waddle away as soon as he got close.  He especially liked it when they ducks would quack really loud-ya know, when it sounds like they're laughing.  We were kicking ourselves cause we forgot to bring our nice camera-it was such a pretty day and we could have gotten way nicer pics.  Oh well, for another day I guess :)

I love the trees the pond-how they're roots just go right into the water is cool to me- looks like a swamp without having to deal with icky humidity :)

Spring Fever

Man has the weather been beautiful lately, and this weekend is supposed to get even warmer!  I enjoy being able to enjoy warmer weather.  What can I say, living in a place that is pretty much warm or hot 9 months out of the year made it hard to appreciate that type of weather.  That's why I love me some seasons-always changing.  We've especially fallen more in love with our backyard.  Whenever I ask Jake if he wants to go outside his face always lights up and he says "DES!" enthusiastically, and I always have to be the one to drag him inside cause he will always say no when I ask him if he wants to go inside.  Earlier this week we had the Robbins crew over for a lil play date to enjoy the warmer weather.  They are such a cute fun family.

Jake in seeing the twins climb up the rock wall and up the ladder has started trying to do it by himself too.  He actually made it up to the top by himself once.

playing in jake's lil clubhouse thing:

it cracks me up how he walks around the yard with his hands behind his back like a lil intellectual meditating on life haha.

Jake is being more open to talking lately.  Now we can get him to repeat words back to us half of the time as opposed to none of the time :)  It's so fun watching him grow and develop his cute personality.
Expect lots more pics after this weekend with the warmer weather, and code will be busy working since he's coming up to a deadline.

quick Valentine's recap

So Valentine's Day started with flowers/reese's hearts and Code making muffins and Jake giving me, well, sort of giving me, a sign.

here are some pics of Jake opening his valentines from his Grandparents-he loved them!

heart attacked!

Later we dropped Jake off at Uncle Eric and Aunt Sarah's while we went to a chocolate exhibit at a local museum (my husband gets me) and then out to a nice dinner with an impromptu stop at a used bookstore right next to our restaurant downtown.  I love places like that.  They even had an original/first edition/whatever swedish version of the D&C (that was for dad)-one of the perks of being in Utah, you find random mormon history everywhere.  I loaded up on some Dickens and some Gilbert & Sullivan-random, I know, but I grew up on Pirates of Penzance so I thought it was fun to have.

swoon, all the things that I love:

beautiful necklace code got me:

The next day Code and I went to Ogden for our cousin Lisa's baby shower and then we went back to Eric and Sarah's to watch Olivia so they could go out on their date.  It's fun being close to family :)

I am so blessed!
