Things that have made me happy lately...

Though not as structured as it used to be, my life has suddenly become very busy and I'm loving it :)

After trying to assemble the correct materials/technology we FINALLY have everything we need to begin the long process of transferring all of our home videos onto the computer, edit them, and burn them on dvds.  I say we cause Code has been great in helping me trouble shoot and figure out how to do it.  So now I periodically change out the tapes in the camcorder and let them play out as our video capturing doohickey records and saves it onto our computer.  It's been really cool to look back at old houses we used to live in and how funny it is to see us all little.  Last night as I was lying in bed waiting to fall asleep I suddenly couldn't remember how I looked NOW cause I had been watching younger versions of myself all day.  I was like...."how did I turn out again?"  and I had to think of our wedding pics to remind myself-tho I already feel like I look a lot different from then...

I've also started reading Moby Dick....ambitious? I thought so at first, though length has never scared me when it came to books-in fact, for some reason the longer the book-the more I tend to relish in reading it.  I'll admit at the beginning I got nervous but once the plot started moving along a bit and I got used to the complete downpour of vocabulary/word usage and style, it's like my brain is now trained to filter the necessary and not worry about some of the crazy words/random tangents and I'm really enjoying the story.  I was reading it last night and loved this passage where Ishmael is in a church before he takes off on his voyage and he has this thought:

"Yes, there is death in this business of whaling-a speechlessly quick chaotic bundling of a man into Eternity.  But what then?  Methinks we have hugely mistaken this matter of Life and Death.  Methinks that what they call my shadow here on earth is my true substance.  Methinks that in looking at things spiritual, we are too much like oysters observing the sun through the water, and thinking that thick water the thinnest of air.  Methinks my body is  but the lees of my better being.  In fact take my body who will, take it I say, it is not me.  And therefore three cheers for Nantucket; and come a stove boat and stove body when they will, for stave my soul, Jove himself cannot."

I dunno...sometimes I just get caught up in the style/language like it's poetry.

Switching mediums, the songs from sound of music have been in my head for a couple of days now.  I watched it friday and fell completely in love with it again-i just love watching the interaction between Maria and that handsome Captain Vontrap :)  I convinced Code to watch it on Sunday and he really liked it.  We've been testing out different musicals seeing which he likes. (the film versions that is).  So far, My Fair Lady has been a little too drawn out/slow for him-though I can't help but love it.  Next I think we'll try music man or something upbeat like that.  Shrug, I just love musicals-they make you feel good.

Of course Code has brightened every day lately.  On Saturday I went to get something from my parents' house and on the way back since I-10 was down I tried a different way but missed a turn and took the long way home.  I was already feeling tired and "blah" so that didn't help things.  I came home after returning something that didn't end up working increasing my frustration, and there on the table was a vase of daisies.  I'll admit it made me cry cause it's just what I needed at that moment.  But he didn't stop there, that evening we got some hotdogs at sonic and then went to a huge park near our house that has soccer/baseball fields and watched a city league game.  That's about the only time I want to be outside in Texas: 9:30 at night :)  It was way fun though.

Finally finishing craft projects! (I only have one left to finish :) The angle makes it look more off center than it actually is but you get the picture.

And of course some great recipes from ourbestbites.  This is becoming a favorite for us-it's a cheesy-tortillini-with spinach and lemony zest-with bacon crumbled over it-baked pan of goodness. :)
