Super Bowl Weekend

I've been taking a lot of pics lately of Jacob that I just love.  Any parent knows when you pull out your smart phone and click that between your wiggling and facial expression-changing kids and your shaking hand the odds of getting a good picture are slim, but magically I've gotten a lot of keepers lately.  I think the trick is to just take pics lots of times throughout the day as you're doing every day normal things-just a few, mind you, not a huge shoot, and you'll likely get something and the kid won't get bored of it.

I love this one-how he looks like an old man sitting in the tub-resting his arms on the edge just chilling.

So this weekend marked some firsts in our family.  Jake had his first experience with "food" (thus the bib above).  We were def more into it than he was.  We had him in just a diaper in case he got really messy with it etc...  It's funny cause he totally chews on his tongue/lips and watches us eat with interest so we figured he was ready.  I guess he just has to get used to the taste.  I'm not particularly worried about him eating cereal....I mean, he drinks formula and that is iron-fortified etc etc etc so he doesn't really need it for the nutrients-I'd much rather him begin learning to like veggies and fruits since he'll keep eating those.  Hopefully he'll warm up to it all soon (we tried sweet potatoes today-figured he'd like it cause it wasn't bitter but yeah he had a similar reaction as seen below:)

umm.......

....no....

...I def don't like this.....

still don't like it...

well....

wait...could he be starting to like it???

....no...no def not.....

We watched Groundhogs Day on, you guessed it, Groundhogs Day with the Skidmores and the Coopers which is always a fun classic.

In other news we watched the super bowl for the first time.  Yeah...I know it's crazy but I honestly can't remember EVER watching the super bowl while growing up-we didn't watch sports on sundays plus my dad was not a pros fan (if it were a byu game it would have been another story).  Last year we went to a super bowl party but it was more talking than watching the game-we saw madonna's half time show....wasn't impressed.
So we went with our good friends the brownings and pigged out and watched it from start to finish (except for the power outage which is when we played games :)  It was fun.  I chose to root for the Ravens since they had some byu alums and were perceived as the under dog (at least that's what I heard) so I was happy for them when they won.
I brought some rice krispy treats footballs: (which I stole from Sam :)

the last remains of the cheesy wonton sausage appetizers we brought-they were a hit!

All and all it was a fun weekend and it looks to be an exciting week potentially (we still don't know anything! but we'll let you know when we do!)
